We are pleased to announce that, for the second consecutive year, Evergage received the highest overall scores for each of the three use cases identified in Gartner’s 2019 “Critical Capabilities for Personalization Engines” report. Published on September 17, the new report – authored by Jennifer Polk, Martha Mathers and Jason McNellis – comes on the heels of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Personalization Engines (published in July 2019), in which Evergage was positioned as a Leader.
The new Critical Capabilities research (available to Gartner clients) includes evaluation data on 13 personalization vendors. Each vendor was scored across seven different capabilities, and each capability was weighted differently for three principal use cases: Marketing, Digital Commerce and Customer Experience.
On a scale of 1-5, Evergage received 3.81 for the Digital Commerce use case, 3.75 for the Marketing use case and 3.71 for the Customer Experience use case. No other vendor received a score of more than 3.59 for any use case.
Digging in deeper, the seven categories of capabilities mentioned in the Critical Capabilities for Personalization Engines report are Data and Analytics, Targeting and Triggering, Marketing Channel Support, Testing and Optimization, Measurement and Reporting, Digital Commerce Support and Customer Experience Support.
Of all the capabilities and weightings, we received highest in Data and Analytics, Measurement and Reporting, and Targeting and Triggering. According to the report, “Targeting and triggering remain the most critical capabilities of personalization engines.”
Gartner also provides an easy-to-use, interactive tool that allows their clients to adjust the weightings of the critical capabilities. Doing so re-orders the list of vendors based on what's most important to the company.
But even when weighting all seven capabilities equally, Evergage remains the vendor scoring highest.
We believe Evergage’s scores in Gartner’s Critical Capabilities for Personalization Engines report are a testament to how well the Evergage platform addresses the needs of customers across industries and use cases.
Evergage’s continued innovations, including last week’s announcement about our Gears Marketplace, are designed to meet or exceed the personalization needs of any business looking to optimize customer engagement. Evergage Gears – connectors, extensions and other customizable and pluggable components – are a key aspect of the solution’s versatility, especially being both a customer data platform (CDP) and a personalization engine. Gartner even mentions this overlap between the two technology categories in the report, stating: “A CDP-supported personalization engine helps marketers accelerate cross-channel, cross-solution and cross-source data integration, and enables some built-in personalization engine machine learning through standardized data feeds."
We encourage existing Gartner clients currently evaluating personalization solutions to utilize this new research. And, even if you’re not a Gartner client, you can download a copy of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Personalization Engines, 2019 report, which we are licensed to distribute.
